Dr. Bol has an extensive 35 years experience in economic research and planning, covering project, regional and macro-economic planning. He has been involved in a great number of studies to develop methodologies for monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of development projects and programmes. He has carried out numerous identification, formulation and evaluation studies of rural development projects. Sectoral studies, in the areas like health, soil and water conservation, livestock and irrigation, with the aim of improving research and monitoring systems, belong to the vast area of his experience. Three regional economies in East Africa were mapped in detail by him, through the creation of new regional input-output tables.

On the macro-side the Netherland's Ministry of International Cooperation has used Dr. Bol's expertise to write internal documents on various national economies, such as Tanzania, India and Bangladesh. While attached to the University of Dar es Salaam Dr. Bol did a lot of research on new so-called non-traditional exports of that country, and he was instrumental in setting up a new research foundation on poverty alleviation (REPOA), a subject about which he has also written extensively. Dr. Bol has prepared and implemented courses for development workers on various subjects related to development cooperation, and taught project planning at the university of Dar es Salaam. He has excellent working knowledge of English and good working knowledge of French.
